Metallica and Lou Reed would have to do what most other artists did when recording this album. Firstly they would have had to write each track out and master it to perfection. Shortly after they would have got an artist to script out the album artwork and what they would want inside out of the musical product and even on the CD.
After this they would have talked about packaging and how they would want the CD presented, whether they would have wanted it with a dvd accompanied with it, or just a normal album.

Next they would probably promote the album by putting up different leaflets and flyers and most likely brodcast a TV advertisement about when the album would be released and what would be feauturing on it.

Interview On "Lulu"

Here is an short interview with Lou Reed, Metallica and Jools Holland. They talk about how Metallica and Lou Reed first came about, during this you can tell the serious face from Lou Reed but at the same time having a laugh, and Jools says he likes the Album a lot. Metallica and Lou reed say that there preformance of iced honey was the first song they have played out of the studio(on "Lulu").

Promotion Of The Album

This is Metallica and Lou Reed preforming one of there new songs, Iced Honey.Apart from this and the interview with Jools Holland, they never really did any other promotional advertisement, only an advert and some posters around. Although in London the posters were taken down due to them being too much like "graffiti".

What is this album like in comparison to others?

This album is completely  different to any of there other albums. In lyric wise a lot of metallica's old work would be very fast and aggressive music.Unlike load and reload also when it was bluesy, the calibration with Lou Reed and Metallica was worse than expected. This album had slow dull riffs with no beat, which let Metallica down because its almost like they rushed it. Lou Reed states "it took weeks to record this album"-this is clearly way to short to be writing and recording the album in.When you listen too majority of the songs, such as the view it has a very slow plodding beat and the vocals are not like Hetfields so therefore they do not stand out as well with the beat unlike there previous songs. Although for a lot of lou reed fans this album is a masterpiece and really shows Lou Reed's true colours.

Metallica And Lou Reed

"LULU"
Lulu is a collaborative album between rock singer-songwriter Lou Reed, and heavy metal band Metallica. The album was recorded in San Rafael, California during April through June of 2011, after Reed had played with Metallica at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's 25th Anniversary Concert which led to them wanting to collaborate. The lead single from the album, titled "The View", was released on September 27, 2011 to a widely negative reception on the internet and failed to chart anywhere. The second single was announced to be "Iced Honey" and will receive a music video directed by film maker Darren Aronofsky.

The conception of the collaboration project began in 2009 when both Metallica and Lou Reed performed at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's 25th Anniversary Concert. After that performance, they began "kicking around the idea of making a record together,"but did not start working together until two years later. In February 2011, Metallica guitarist Kirk Hammett announced that in May 2011 the group would start working on something that's "not 100 percent a Metallica record. It's a recording project, let's put it that way."The project was revealed to be a collaboration with Lou Reed once the recording of the album had been completed in June 2011."All tracks were made available for listening on the official Lou Reed & Metallica website before its release.

In my opinion this album is an utter abomination to Metallica, it has no life at all, all the riffs are dull and depressing which is the Metallica, but there is nothing to them,no beat, no nothing apart from the odd decent one and i find it hard to believe that you can say Lou Reed is even singing. When listening to this album i kept waiting for something good to come, but then it never did. Also i find that James had very little to sing in this album which is a shame because his voice can be used for some good. The reason i dislike this album so much is because each song sounds the same, there is no real variation on the guitar part and especially the drums.

Introduction

My name is Mash Lammiman, I am 16 years old and i'm from Southwell Minster School. I am in a band called The Age Of Stella, i play Lead Guitar. This blog is going to be on alot of different activites i'll be doing during the btec course. In the Band we play funk/alternative/rock.We have done many different gigs around nottinghamshire and hoping to do more.
My favourite band is Metallica, they are a thrash but they have changed greatly over the years they have changed greatly, almost like my band The Age Of Stella, it originally started with me, Billy and Ross, then we came across Will, our drummer.
We did from gig to gig over the first year and came 2nd in the Popx competition Febuary 2010.
I shall be keeping regular updates on whats going on band wise and about my BTEC work.
